A little bit about adore photography
At adore photography we like good, quality images. It's as simple as that.
We have a wealth of knowledge and experience in many genres of photography, having used the necessary skills in professional life for over 10 years. Yes, we started in a proper darkroom, with chemicals and everything!
We aim to provide something that is lacking in the photographic services industry at the moment - quality, care, experience and knowledge. We love what we do. We love what we can make and achieve. Our hearts are behind everything we do.
In a nutshell, adore photography provides experienced and professional photographic services. We have over 10 years worth of knowledge, supplying excellence to individuals, small and large businesses, on a national and international scale. Whatever the project, we will deliver quality images.
Who is behind adore photography?
My name is Mike Litchfield. Or Michael if I've not taken the bin out. I recently realised a 10 or so year
dream, in starting my own photography company. For many reasons, it has taken this long.
I am a perfectionist, partly due to my personality and partly due to necessity of being so throughout my fairly varied career (see below). Therefore I strive for the best in everything I do. Especially when it comes to photography, as it's not only a matter of professionalism, but a matter of pride too.
I now live in Newark-on-Trent with my partner and kids.
I like, movies, bike rides, ice hockey, football, tennis, well lets just say sport, it will be shorter that way, painting, craft, and a whole host of other stuff. Oh and I'm a Star Wars addict. But I'm a cool one. No, really.

Experience in photography
Individuals and Social events
From the beginning of my photographic education, I have shot weddings, portraits and social functions. So have many years experience. My personal preference to wedding photography style is reportage, but whatever works with the couple best is the priority. I enjoy portraiture and prefer the more relaxed approach.
Corporate/Commercial clients
Throughout the past 13 years, I have shot a huge range of photographic subjects, for international, national and local businesses. Ranging from the largest US supplier of mechanic's tools and tool storage cabs, to a well known local pet care company, electrical suppliers, hotel chains and beyond.
Beginnings and achievements in photography
After studying the moving image back in the mid-nineties, I was soon drawn to the still image, primarily by way of my knowledge and participation in digital imaging (we're talking Photoshop3 then upgrading to 4!).
I then proceeded to study photography, this was a good few years before digital, so it was studying the real processes of film, developing, darkroom techniques etc, as well as a good grounding in actual photographic procedure. During the later years of the course, I was putting what I knew in to practise. A few tutors asked me to assist them in private jobs, and I also undertook work individually too.

During my study, I also qualified as a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society, gaining this qualification by judgement of a panel of images I submitted. To do this so early on in my photographic career was an achievement, and something I am proud of.
Another achievement was having an image accepted into the prestigeous 146th RPS/Kodak International Print Exhibition. Many tens of thousands of images are entered, but only 100 selected. This image can be seen on my personal website at www.mikelitchfield.com. One day when I have time, I shall enter an image again.
Experience in design
Whilst studying photography, I was encouraged to introduce more of my design work into what I was doing. When I graduated from my photography course, I then proceeded to study design and multimedia design, another love of my life. Upon completing this course, I was freelancing as a web designer and photographer, a very useful combination.
Not too long after doing this, I was offered a Graphic Design position and accepted it, seeing it as a great opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in one of my loves. As well as the design work for the multinational company based in Leicestershire, I also provided them with photographic services, again the two were most useful skills to have.
My quest to improve my design led me to a design studio in Nottingham, the fast pace honed certain skills and gave me great insight. Many services were offered to the studio's clients, including that of photography, with a purpose built studio. Along with design duties, I managed the running of the photographic studio, checking products in and out, as well as photographing them for inclusion in our printed matter. Being able to perform two of my lifes loves was perfect.
But more knowledge, experience and a certain prestige was offered in the form of another Graphic Design role at one of Nottingham's busiest Design and Marketing agencies. This catapulted me in a way, into working for huge brands, with big needs. Again, I was called on to produce high quality product photography for the agency's clients, as well as their design materials.
The chance to work on personal briefs was always there throughout working for others and, of late opportunities have been too good to pass. This has led me to starting up this photographic business, which I longed to do for many, many years. Also there's the design work, so at a later date, my design company will launch too. Photography and design go hand-in-hand, and I am lucky enough to be able to offer both, at a high quality level.
My experience in design enables me to offer certain services to my customers here at adore photography, so when you need your stationery or any decorations/signage, remember it's not just quality photography we provide.
